The banner and emblem of the Zlín Region - the blue and golden square contains the Moravian Eagle in first field, a closed blue book with golden edges and golden patriarch’s cross on the cover. The third field contains crossed axes with black handles and a blue share lying over them; there are also grapes hanging above. The fourth field contains a golden eight-point star.
The first field containing the land's symbol alludes to the affiliation of the Zlín Region with the whole of Moravia. The second field is to commemorate the fact that the very centre of the Great Moravian Empire closely connected to the activities of St. Cyril and St. Methodius used to lie in this region. The third field refers to the natural and cultural variety of the region, for it combines the mountainous Wallachia, the fertile flatlands of Haná as well as Moravian Slovakia with its vineyards. The star in the fourth field has been taken over from the emblem of the city of Zlín.

The symbol of the region – the basic element of the symbol is a geometric shape – a square. The symbol consists of four squares that are arranged in the shape of a Z, the number of squares – 4 – refers to the number of parts of the Zlín Region (i.e. Kroměřížsko, Uherskohradišťsko, Vsetínsko and Zlínsko). The entire concept of the symbol is inspired by the cubic shapes of the Zlín Functionalist architecture, which is best characterized by simplicity and a sense of spaciousness.
