The Council of the Zlín Region is the region’s executive body in the limits of its autonomous competence. The Council prepares proposals and materials to discuss at the board's sessions, it is entitled to ensure and check the management of the region's budget, to appoint and dismiss the heads of departments, to establish commissions, to issue regional regulations, to make decisions concerning legal acts affecting property rights, etc. The Council of the Zlín Region has 9 members (who are elected by the board) and consists of: the governor, deputy governors and members. Each of the council’s members is in charge of particular tasks in individual areas (such as investments, education, culture etc.). The council’s sessions may not, under relevant legal regulations be attended by the public.
